Last week, I received an EXTREMELY exciting piece of mail – my wonderful editor, Ali, kindly sent me two beautiful copies of the printed proof copy of the cover for The Huntress: Sea.
I’d already seen the proofs in an email and at the blogger event I attended the week before, but actually holding the proofs in my hands was amazing (at the blogger event the proofs were passed around the room for the bloggers to see, but as one of the speakers I didn’t get the chance to actually hold them.)
The current version is not the final version. The team are still experimenting with techniques such as which side of the card to print on, what type of foil to use and whether to use embossing. But whatever decisions are made between now and the final version, judging by the amazing work that’s been done so far, I know it will look gorgeous. I’m seriously mega impressed with the attention to detail at Egmont; they really do make their books into stunning works of art. Watching the evolution of the cover to date has been fascinating.
Here is a pic of what I found when I opened that tantalising Egmont envelope:
As the note attached with the proofs suggests, this is definitely one to frame!
